What this is. Pawnbase is a browser-based chess trainer, currently in beta. It is free to use while in beta; whether and how that changes later is undecided, and nothing here promises it stays free forever.
Your data is yours. Games, repertoires, notes, and training history you create belong to you. You can export them at any time; the privacy notice describes exactly what is stored where.
Beta means beta. The product is provided as-is, without warranties. We work hard on data safety — local-first storage, backups, transactional restores — but you should keep your own backup exports of anything you cannot afford to lose.
Fair use. Don't abuse the service: no scraping the relay, no automated bulk requests, no attempts to access other users' data. Rate limits and circuit breakers enforce this mechanically.
Third-party services. Game imports and some statistics use Lichess's and Chess.com's public APIs under their terms. Optional AI features run on keys you supply, under your provider's terms.
Engine and licenses. Analysis is by Stockfish (GPLv3); bundled content and font licenses are listed in the repository's NOTICES file.
Changes. These terms may change as the product leaves beta; material changes will be dated on this page.
